Who we are
Our story started over 40 years ago in a small town with a big destiny. In 1967 God gave a young couple a dream for a church in Newton Aycliffe; Pastors Jack and Pansy Dickenson pioneered the independent, Full Gospel Church‚ as a house group. The church soon began to grow and moved into rented buildings.
As the church continued to grow and flourish, Glyn and Pamela became the Senior Pastors (1985) and their passion for God’s House birthed a dream for the church to own its own building. In 1987 Glyn and Pamela took a giant step of faith and began to build a church in Woodham Village.
In 2001 the church became a member of the ALC Network and two years later joined the Hillsong Network; forming significant partnerships with churches who share the same heart and vision for the world.
In September 2007, John and Lisa Greenow became Senior Pastors and the church became known as XCEL CHURCH. With services in Darlington and Durham City, Xcel Church is one of the fastest growing churches in the region. In 2007 planning permission for the Xcel Centre was granted; a complex that is to become the new home of Xcel Church. For the last 40 years the church has continued to grow and gain momentum transforming into the vibrant and energetic church you see today.
